Sometimes, it really does look like a sit-down coffee, looking out at a beautiful view of the ocean and sipping slowly as you wake up. Sometimes though, we have to have a little more pep in our step. Things to do, people to see, places to go and all that. While it’s always lovely to have a sit-down cuppa, more often than not, we need to take our coffee on the go. If you’re anything like me, it’s grab a take away cup and get on out the door to crack on with the day’s activities. That’s where we come in, let us help you find the best spots for takeout coffee in Rawai.
Maybe you’re headed out on a boat ride to a nearby island and you’re running a little late. Maybe you’ve got a doctors appointment to get to or a meeting to join, or a friend to see. It’s possible to sit and chill before these things but if you’re short on time, why not grab a killer cup of takeout coffee in Rawai from one of these places.

Poached Breakfast Cafe Rawai
You can’t say coffee in the south of Phuket without somehow materalising at Poached Breakfast Cafe Rawai Beach. Coffee is our middle name. (It’s not but it may as well be.) We love good coffee and we love serving good coffee. It’s a passion and true obsession.
We only use the most high quality coffee beans that have been scientifically roasted to perfection using the latest technology and research (it really is an art). All our baristas are highly trained experts and they seriously never put a foot wrong! We calibrate our machines daily, test our coffee regularly and make sure we store, grind, brew and serve our coffee in the most discerning, scientifically approved way – that is 10000% tastebud approved too.
If you’re looking for a takeout coffee in Rawai, Poached is the place to be, but did you know that it’s also important to pick a coffee that travels well. A cappuccino usually has a thick foam that is either velvety or dry (meaning it has big airy bubbles and a whole lot of voluminous va va voom).
This means that when you drink a cappuccino in store, it’s delicious and thick and flavourful BUT once you pour it into a travel cup and get it bumping around in the car or on a walk (or on the back of a Grab bike if you’ve ordered a delivery), it loses it’s foam and you’re left with a drink that tastes a little flat, without its usual delicious mouth feel.
What about macchiatos? Whilst macchiatos don’t tend to have a thick foam, they do have micro foam which is teeny tiny little air bubbles that decorate the top of the coffee. You’ll lose this foamy flavour but honestly, we think macchiatos travel okay and we do get ours to take away! Some cafes even make their macchiato sans foam so it might not even make that much of a difference if you’re used to that type of macchiato.
Again lattes are a strange one, they do have a layer of milk foam that is about 1cm thick BUT because the microfoam is so thick, you might lose a little bit of the air inside, but retain some of the rest. Juuuusstt try not to jolt your cup around too much. It should survive a car ride, not a roller coaster! Definitely worth buying a latte as an option for takeout coffee in Rawai.
Of course, an americano has no milk, so you don’t need to worry about how it travels. Just order, and sip away!
If you’re a cappuccino lover, our advice is to come and sip on yours in store while you look at the beautiful Rawai beach and watch the long tail boats bob softly in the ocean. Sounds good, doesn’t it?
Plus, if you’re feeling a little peckish and want some brekky on the go, why not order some banana bread to go with your takeout coffee in Rawai? Oooh or you could try our smashed avo on toast which travels really well or even a healthier breakfast classic like chia pudding with fresh fruit. We have a stunning Melbourne inspired menu that will not fail to make your tastebuds party all day long.
Other places to get takeout coffee in Rawai
Ok, so maybe you’re a little far away from the beach at Rawai but you’re still jonesing for a cuppa to takeaway. Don’t stress your mind, we’ve got some super places you can find great takeout coffee in Rawai.
Wilsons Cafe
Set a little further back from the beach, Wilson’s Cafe is popular with the young crowds and digital nomads. Another Aussie cafe with pretty decent coffee, you can grab a cuppa to go with ease here. You may recognise the face of the friendly silent volleyball who starred alongside Tom Hanks in Castaway. With a whole range of coffees, smoothie bowls and brekky options, Wilsons is a great choice for takeaway coffee in Rawai if you’re a little further from the beach.
Hock Hoe Lee
Hock Hoe Lee are coffee roasters and specialists in cold brew coffee. If it’s a cold brew you’re craving, then this is the place to go. Within easy reach from both Rawai and Chalong, and located right on the main road, you can pop by on your way to…well, anywhere.
You can even stock up on some bottles to store in the fridge for a rainy day. They do some decent hot coffees too and they sell bags of freshly roasted coffee that you can pick up to brew at home. We aren’t the biggest fan of their hot drinks but their cold brews are really super and are a good choice if you’re looking for a refreshing takeout coffee in Rawai.
Baan Express
Quite a surprising entry here, Baan Express are not usually known for their coffee since they’re more about mezze but they really do serve a super duper latte if you’re looking for a wonderful takeout coffee in Rawai Sai Yuan area. Creamy, smooth, flavourful – we came for the falafel and stayed for the coffee. Seriously, we ordered a few too many, last time we visited.
Baan Express also serves healthy Mediterranean food that is easy to take away and is quite possibly some of the best Mediterranean food in Phuket. Just a warning, they don’t open until 12pm so don’t try and visit until at least lunch time!
